The City of Gothenburg has decided to stop deliveries of sparkling bottled water, the Swedish paper Metro tells. Last year, the city bought 110 000 bottles of sparkling water. But no more of that. The prohibition against bottled water comes into effect on October 1st, and applies to almost all municipal administrations and businesses. Restaurant guests and people living at senior citizen’s residences, are excepted from the prohibition. The suggestion was brought up by Max Reijer (mp party), who says to Metro that the point was to decrease unnecessary transports. Several municipal businesses in Gothenburg, among them the amusement park Liseberg, will instead be using equipment that can carbonate regular tap-water. |
