| Solar firms team up on recycling |

According to Reuters some of the world's top solar power companies have teamed up to launch the first large-scale recycling system for solar panels in Europe, to stay one step ahead of regulators by showing an industry-led schema can work. The new association embraces about 17 solar companies. Experts say the cost of producing a solar module from recycled ingredients rather than primary material is about the same. But using recycled wafers takes up only a third of energy needed to produce a module from first-hand material as purifying silicon to solar-grade level is energy intensive.
