| Skanska invests heavily in green building |

2009-11-30 Skanska announced last week that they will create a global unit for green business in order to commercialize the technology, solutions and business models for green building. Main themes in green building is energy efficiency and buildings with low environmental impact. Skanska's President and CEO says that "Skanska has already experienced growing demand and the environment will benefit from more customers promptly gaining access to modern green solutions. At the same time, Skanska foresees a multi-billion market in Swedish Kronor (SEK) with strong growth potential. "An Inconvenient Truth for the entire construction industry today is that as much as 40% of the total carbon dioxide emissions worldwide come from buildings, which is a far greater proportion than for example the often criticized car industry emits.
