Venture capital investment in Cleantech is growing strongly

Data for the third quarter shows that the inflow of venture capital to Cleantech in the U.S. continues to rise from the trough in the first quarter, both in terms of invested amount and number of investments. During the third quarter 1.59 billion dollars were invested in the sector in 134 deals compared with the second quarter which raised 1.2 billion U.S. dollars in 85 deals and the first quarter in which the inflow stood at one billion in 59 deals.

The sharp recovery means that Cleantech now constitute the largest sector for venture capital investments in the U.S. Investments in Cleantech has risen from 3% of total VC investments in early 2004 to today’s share of 27%.
