A report by Greenpeace and the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC) called "Energy [R]evolution: A Sustainable World Energy Outlook", announces that renewable energy sources will account for 67 percent of the electricity produced in developing countries in Asia by 2050. In a statement, Greenpeace says the report shows that aggressive investment in renewable power generation and energy efficiency could provide half of the world’s electricity, create an annual $360 billion industry worldwide, and cut over $18 trillion in future fuel costs while protecting the climate. |
