RENEWABLE ENERGY TO MEET 43% OF CHINA'S NEEDS BY 2050 |

China is focusing on the development of renewable energy such as wind, water, solar energy and biomass energy, according to Huang Qili, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Renewable energy will replace coal, oil and gas as the major energy in China by 2050, meeting 43 per cent of the energy demands, predicted Huang in an environment protection forum. Huang said that energy conservation and the development of clean and renewable energy would ensure the protection of environment as well as the sustainable growth of China's economy. China was the biggest emitter of industrial fumes, dust and sulfur dioxide, and its carbon dioxide emissions were the second largest in the world
